carried on the mountain winds

里とほき八声の鳥の初声に花の香送る春の山風

In my home town, everywhere you can hear, the first calls of birds, the fragrance of flowers, carried on the mountain winds.

The imagery of this one hit me on the heartstrings. I don’t live in mountains, admittedly. But I do, or did, live in a pretty wooded area. Where I grew up, you couldn’t see the next door because of the foliage. (But you could hear them). In our backyard we have a bird feeder flowers, there’s a lot of wind. The imagery in the poem reminded me of that.

I get to read a beautiful poem as I try to draw it beautifully.
